Did you lose your Barbie last weekend at the City Wide Garage Sales?  We had a call at the Chamber office from one of  the stops who said someone left Barbie at her house.  Barbie is here at the Chamber office helping out with Wa Du Shuda things and enjoying her time around town too.  Give us a call if she belongs to you and think it's time for her to come home.

Don't worry, we bought her a push pop at the New Lisbon Pool.  She loved the diving board!

Barbie loves to read.  She spent all day in the air conditioning of the Library!  She really enjoyed the big purple chair in the kid's area.

She has been a lot of help here in the Chamber office.  She polished the Wa Du Shuda Madalion to get it ready for the scavenger hunt and helped with the Parade paperwork.  She is nice to have around, but if it's time for her to come home, we understand (and to tell you the truth, her refusal to wear shoes is a little unprofessional)  Just give us a call to arrange a time to pick her up

The DNR has been putting out notices of very high fire dangers lately. This weekend alone the DNR responded to 26 small wildfires.  Burning permits remain suspended.  To help keep Wisconsinites safe, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources asked the public to reduce outdoor burning, including limiting the use of outdoor grills and campfires.
Although some scattered chances of rain are forecasted, with cooler temperatures and less wind, the precipitation is expected to be very minimal and is not likely to improve the overall fire situation. Fuel conditions such as trees, shrubs and grasses are very dry. Please continue to take extra precautions as a dry stretch of weather remains.

Check in to our website often.  We are keeping track of what local businesses are open at www.new Lisbon Chamber on our Open Through Social Distancing page.

Many businesses have had to change their way of doing things.  Either by changing services, like our local bars that have switched to only having take out orders available.  Some businesses have changed up their hours, and some are limiting their business in other ways, like only letting a few people in their doors at a time.  They are working to help keep our community safe and healthy. The Chamber of Commerce would love for you to help keep their businesses healthy. Healthy physically by staying home if you are sick, but also helping them stay healthy financially.  They need our support to keep them in business now and after this Social Distancing orders end. If you need something, can you find it locally, does a small business in the area have the item? When you eat out, are you supporting small businesses?  When you buy groceries, are you getting them locally? Check our website to see local businesses you can support. If you know of a local business that we don’t have listed, email us at [email protected] so we can share the information.

We also have had a few churches contact us about their changes.  See our list on our Open page to see churches where you can watch their services online.  To get your Church listed, email us.

Our spotlight business of the week it Jossabean Sweets.  If you want to support local, this is the place to go.  Jossabean Sweets is ran by a local couple who grew up in new Lisbon.  When they remodeled the building on the corner of Bridge and State street, they wanted to bring some of the history of the building back, and it shows in the way they used the 113 year old ceiling tiles from the kitchen, to the Historic pictures hanging up in the shop.   Their love for supporting local also reflected in everything form the coffee they serve, to the fresh food they make.  The coffee is Collin’s Coffee which is locally roasted! The fresh sandwiches are made with homemade bread, two new soups are made fresh daily, the donuts are made fresh at 3am every morning, and the homemade scones are wonderful!  Their local support goes far beyond their business.  All of the tips, and 100% of the proceeds from every Nilla Nics (that is what they call their homemade vanilla cupcakes) goes to the Nicholas Pudenz Scholarship.  The scholarship is handed out to one new Lisbon high school senior each year in Nicholas’s honor.  Jossabean Sweets is closed on Sunday and Tuesdays, and open Monday, Wednesday ,and Thursday from 5:30am to 1:30 pm, on Fridays from 5:30 am to 5 pm, and Saturdays from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm.  Stop by!

They have a flying club that is an affordable way to start flying lessons or if you are a ‘rusty pilot’ and want an affordable way to get current with flying again. Their members own a variety of planes, including gliders, tail daggers and parachute jumpers.
They invite the public to join them at their monthly meetings the 3rd wed of each month at 7pm.  You will find them to be a friendly supportive community.  What makes their organization strong is the business sponsors for their events. It’s all about sowing into the community....sowing into people.  The Chapters president says; There are people we meet all the time who have a love of the field of aviation that was planted in them. They are thrilled to find out about a way to connect with others and love learning together each month.
Something new starting this fall is called VMC club where they will talk about scenarios that may happen in flight and discuss what they would do in that situation.
The EAA chapter 1365 key yearly events are Young Eagles free event for 8-17 year olds that is this Saturday  June 22 at the New Lisbon/Mauston airport and their annual Fly In- a free event Sat Aug 31... as always, the Sat of Labor Day Weekend.
